Community Involvement

Here at Apple Ford, your Baltimore Ford dealer, we are extremely proud of our involvement within the local community. Our commitment to charitable works actually began before we even opened our doors on Jan. 7, 1994, through the efforts of Chairman George Doetsch, Junior. Already a successful and experienced Ford dealer, Doetsch began building connections in Howard County and the communities around what is now Apple Ford, your local Ford dealer. He met with key leaders to understand local organizations, figure out where resources were needed in the neighborhood and what he could do to further strengthen the community. One of our underlying core values for our expert staff and for our executive leadership team is giving back to our community in any way possible, and Doetsch's work was the inspiration behind our Community Giving Program. Many of the employees at Apple Ford, your destination for a Ford in Columbia, live in Howard County or the neighboring counties. Their children also attend school in these communities. That is why our team at Apple Ford, your local Ford dealer, believes we all are part of a larger family and that giving back to the community enriches everyone's lives.

The charitable efforts at Apple Ford, your Baltimore Ford dealer, began in the early 1990s. We focused on helping organizations like The Howard County General Hospital, Howard Community College, The Columbia Foundation, Howard County Police and Fire departments and more. Chairman Doetsch Jr. also served on various community boards, such as The Columbia Rotary Club, The Howard County Chamber of Commerce, Washington Area New Automobile Dealers' Association and others. He also was a driving force behind the Howard County Police Foundation, an organization that serves as a liaison between the Howard County Police Department and local businesses to help support the families of fallen officers. The work done during the early days of Apple Ford, your local Ford dealer, served as the foundation for today's endeavors.

As the years went on, Apple Ford, your destination for a Ford in Columbia, increased its presence in the community and sponsored various charity golf outings, festivals, art and culture events and 5Ks that benefit a wide variety of different causes. These include The Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure, which the Ford Motor Company supports as a top corporate sponsor. Our Community Giving Program usually focuses on medical, health and educational issues, but we also are glad to support the arts and other programs that will enrich the lives of citizens. All of the employees at Apple Ford, your local Ford dealer, are encouraged to give back some of their time volunteering and assisting the causes that inspire them the most. Many have participated in 5Ks, served on different community boards, have experience as volunteer firefighters and paramedics, have served the youth in our community and have worked fundraisers held at Apple Ford.

Both Apple Ford and the Doetsch family serve the University of Maryland's R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and the University of Maryland's Children's Hospital. Our President and CEO Chip Doetsch is currently on several important community boards such as the UMMS Children's Hospital board, the Washington Area New Automobile Dealers' Association and other grassroots organizations that support the Wounded Warriors project. Due to their charitable efforts either through Apple Ford or on a personal level, the Doetsch family has been honored with various community awards and recognition. They have raised funds numbering in the millions for The R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma, The UMMS Children's Hospital, Baltimore City College's Library and more.
